About Me

A Montgomery County, MD native, I graduated from James Madison University, and then attended the University of Pennsylvania for graduate school. I returned to Washington, DC and later moved to Northern Virginia to grow my family. For almost 20 years, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, but the common thread has been motherhood and parenting related stressors. Like many new mothers, I was surprised to feel overwhelmed and disoriented after my first baby was born. I had worked with new moms for years – why was this so hard for me?! It took time and support to accept that things are not always as we expect them to be, and that new motherhood may not be the most magical time of my life.

I feel deeply connected in clinical practice when working with new moms and women who have experienced loss through termination of medical reasons (TFMR), miscarriage, and stillbirth. I also have a lifelong passion for reproductive justice and abortion access and believe that all abortion is valid and deserves non-judgmental support. While all fertility journeys are different, they all deserve to be respected and honored.

I work with clients through a combination of traditional talk therapy, education, practical skills, and solutions that focus on each individual client’s needs. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), attachment theory, family systems, and Karen Kleiman’s Art of Holding. I also work with a non-profit specializing in education and support for new mothers called PACE.

Through telling our stories and building relationships, we can make the world a more beautiful place for ourselves, our children, and our fellow humans.

I can’t wait to help you.

When I was a kid, my favorite story was Miss Rumphius. In the story, a little girl is taught to always make the world a more beautiful place. She grows older and spreads lupine seeds all along the coast of Maine where she lives.

I’ve carried the story of Miss Rumphius with me throughout my life—first as a Girl Scout, and then as a Social Worker. I believe that caring for people and developing relationships makes our world more beautiful and compassionate.
